Funding program and funding body
The project Pro-Wild - "Protect and promote Crop Wild Relatives" - is supported by the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation program under the grant agreement No 101134965. Horizon Europe addresses climate change, supports the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and enhances the EU’s competitiveness and growth. It facilitates collaboration and strengthens the impact of research by developing and implementing EU policies while tackling global challenges. Horizon Europe also aims to create jobs, harness the EU’s talent, and promote industrial competitiveness, all within a reinforced European Research Area. Legal entities from the EU and associated countries are eligible to participate.
Apart from the European Union, the project receives funding from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) under the reference number 10121521. UKRI is the main body responsible for funding research and innovation in the United Kingdom. It coordinates the work of the seven Research Councils, Innovate UK, and Research England to support research across a wide range of disciplines, from science and technology to the arts and humanities. UKRI focuses on addressing major societal challenges, such as climate change and public health, while helping to advance the UK’s research and innovation capabilities. The agency promotes collaboration between universities, industry, and government.
As a third co-funder the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation (SERI) supports the project Pro-Wild under the contract number 24.00389. The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) is Switzerland's federal body responsible for national policy in education, research, and innovation. SERI oversees and coordinates initiatives across these sectors, ensuring that they contribute to the country's long-term development and competitiveness. The agency supports education at all levels, fosters research activities, and promotes innovation to address societal and economic challenges. SERI works closely with universities, research institutions, and industry to ensure that research and innovation are aligned with national priorities and have practical applications.
