Innolea

Innolea is a French research company focused on the genetics and genomics of oilseed crops, particularly rapeseed and sunflower. Innolea's mission is to increase the genetic diversity and resilience of these important crops by developing tools to enable the creation of new varieties that are more resistant to environmental stresses, pests and diseases, while requiring fewer inputs, making them more sustainable and adaptable to future climates.

Role in the project

Innolea is taking part in most of the activities related to Brassica napus (oilseed rape) and its CWR in the Pro-Wild project. This includes the multiplication and phenotypic characterization of Brassica CWR, with a particular focus on resistance to cabbage stem flea beetle (CSFB), a major insect pest for which oilseed rape has limited resistance. Efforts are being made to cross CWR that demonstrate the strongest response to CSFB with oilseed rape, aiming to create introgressions valuable for pre-breeding programs. The goal is to reach the BC2F2 stage to gain a comprehensive understanding of the genetic basis of resistance.
