WP2: Ex-situ conservation of CWRs for enhanced utilisation in pre-breeding

Objectives

  • O 2.1 To survey the breadth of the ex-situ conserved CWR diversity in the three targeted Pro-Wild gene pools and its readiness for pre-breeding
  • O 2.2 To maximise the captured bio-geographic and genomic diversity by strategically triaging the three argeted Pro-Wild gene pools into Pan-European core-collections containing between 200 to 500 accessions each
  • O 2.3 To enable the development of CWR-derived germplasm, amenable for reproducible genomic led pre-breeding, by lowering the intrinsic accession diversity of the triaged core-collections in form of single plant progeny sub-accessions
  • O 2.4 To characterise CWRs ‘omics’ by sequence-based genotyping and biotic and abiotic stress responses phenotyping for association genetics and assembly of micro-core collections pre-breeding panels
