About Pro-Wild

Crop wild relatives (CWR) are wild species related to cultivated crops, offering valuable traits like heat tolerance and pest resistance. Despite their potential, few CWR-derived varieties are widely cultivated.

Pro-Wild aims to protect and conserve CWR of wheat, sugar beet, and oilseed rape, both in their natural habitats and in genebanks. The project will also catalog beneficial traits, making them accessible to breeders and researchers.

Pro-Wild brings together 19 partners from 11 countries, combining expertise in various fields, and is co-funded by the European Union, UK Research and Innovation and the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation.
