The Italian Council for Agricultural Research and Economics (CREA) has announced a vacancy for a researcher within the EU-funded project "Protect and Promote Crop Wild Relatives" (Pro-Wild). The position is based at CREA's Genomics and Bioinformatics Research Centre in Fiorenzuola d'Arda, Italy, and the work aims to study the genetic resilience of cereal crops to support their adaptation to environmental stresses, in particular drought.
Role description and responsibilities
The position is for a researcher on a fixed term contract for 36 months with the possibility of extension. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting genetic analysis of cereal crops to investigate resilience traits, with a focus on drought tolerance.
- Mapping genetic markers associated with resilience and conducting statistical and association analyses.
- Working in controlled and field settings to collect and interpret data for resilience research.
Requirements
Applicants should have a relevant degree in areas such as biological sciences, agricultural biotechnology or agricultural sciences. A PhD in a related field or three years of relevant postgraduate research experience is required. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of experimental design, statistical analysis and familiarity with genetic analysis software.
