Workpackage 1: In-situ characterisation of crop wild relatives for their better conservation
Workpackage 1 focuses on the following key objectives and tasks to enhance the in-situ conservation of crop wild relatives.
Objectives
- Identify priorities for in-situ conservation of wheat, oilseed rape and sugar beet crop wild relatives using occurrence maps and new samplings in-situ
- Predict the vulnerability of three wheat crop wild relatives to the ongoing climate changes
- Characterize the diversity of crop wild relatives in-situ that will be relevant to improve the access to nutrients from thesoil (microbiota)
- Characterize the diversity of crop wild relatives in-situ that will be relevant to improve plant immunity
Tasks
- Identification of best sites for new crop wild relative collections and the establishment of genetic reserves
- Prioritizing the sampling of wild populations via the assessment of ferality, population structure and functional traits (Brassica oleracea and relatives)
- Assessing populations vulnerability using temporal analysis and genomic predictions
- Diversity in crop wild relatives related to plant × microbiota interaction
- Diversity in crop wild relatives related to diseases resistance
